BIOETHICS AS A NECESSITY IN CURRENT AND FUTURE MEDICINE

Abstract

Bioethics, a discipline with 50 years of history, is shown to be an essential tool for current and future medical practice, in a context of paradigm shift in the clinical relationship, with a nec­essary and increasing empowerment of patients, in a permanent development of knowledge and with the unstoppable presence of technology and the process of digitalization of health. It is necessary to improve and advance in the training in bioethics of health professionals, espe­cially medical doctors, consolidating the ethical values that they must apply in their practice, without falling into defensive medicine and without losing the human component, essential in their work with patients.
